Vintage Baby Girl

Paper Crafting Challenges is challenging us to create something for baby.  I have very few baby stamp images, but usually bring this one out from an Easter set by Stampin' Up when I want to make a baby card. The sentiment is  from another set by Stampin' Up, which I had to ink up after masking off some of the other parts of the stamp; same with the baby face.

Craft Hoarders Anonymous knows that every one of us crafters has a hoard of buttons and wants to see us use them on this week's challenge.  I chose this one beautiful, very pale pink vintage button from my stash to make a statement on my card.  I must have a gazillion buttons, but only one vintage pink button, and nothing else would do.  (I couldn't find my one vintage pink diaper pin for this card, so I had to use an old tiny brass colored safety pin. And I spent at least 40 minutes tearing apart all my hiding spots looking for that single diaper pin--it'll show up next week, I'm sure!)

For my background, I embossed my panel, inked it with Tattered Rose, Spun Sugar and Vintage Photo Distress Inks  and Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint Distress Markers. I did the old spritz and flick to get the water droplets.  (Sizzix embossing folder)

Next I aged a stark white doily from my stash using Antique Linen, Spun Sugar and Vintage Photo Distress Inks and glued it to the background.

For the focal image, I die cut some watercolor paper and stamped the image in Archival Ink.  I "watercolored" the image using  a variety of Distress Markers and a water pen.  This was popped up off the doily using foam dimensional squares. (Nestibilities die)

I was inspired by Paula Cheney's tutorial over on Tim's blog to make this bow using some vintage ivory seam binding I picked up at an estate sale this weekend.  Sorry, Tim, I have a ton of your Crinkle Ribbon, but I'll save that for another project--I wanted to use my new find! I used some of Tim's Mini Distress Inks spritzed with water on my craft mat to color the seam binding, and I think it turned out quite nice. I die cut the tag, stamped and distressed it and fastened it and the button with the seam binding.  I added the safety pin. (Tim Holtz Alterations die by Sizzix)

Now I just need to find a new baby girl to send this to.  Thank you for stopping in to have a look! I appreciate all your sweet comments.

  4. I had to smile at you trying to find that button, that's just the kind of frustrating thing I do (!), but your substitute looks great anyway and I love that really cute image and the wonderful embossed background. Anne x

    1. I haven't found THAT pin, but I found another in a box of buttons at an estate sale last weekend, and I paid much more for that box of buttons than I ever would have, just because there was a vintage pink diaper pin in there! Fortunately, I just got to use s few of the other buttons on a few more projects I submitted to the button it up challenge.:) :) thanks for your sweet comment.
