One of a Kind Mixed Media Card

Hello friends! Welcome to a new week. Today I would like to honor and thank all those who have and who currently serve to protect our country. Thank you for your sacrifice, dedication and service to our wonderful country. Also much gratitude to their families, as well, for their sacrifice.

I was in the mood for a little mixed media play last night, and pulled out a stamped background I made last spring when I had the pleasure of a crafty weekend shared with Autumn.  She shared her Dots and Floral stamps with me, and I made a background by inking the Floral stamp with Forest Moss Distress Oxide ink. I loved it so much I had to purchase my own set. You can see just a bit of the image peeking out from opposing corners, but it also adds some visual interest to the overall grungy background.

I scraped Distress Crazing through a circles stencil over the stamped image and allowed it to dry. The oxide ink reacted with the crazing, and I wasn't pleased with the resulting color. I scribbled with Walnut Stain Distress crayon to emphasize the cracks and brayered with a light color paint (Titan Buff). When that dried, I swiped the Evergreen Bough Distress ink pad down the card. I spritzed with water to let the color bleed and dried with a heat tool. Lastly I blended with Vintage Photo, Weathered Wood and Evergreen Bough inks.

Simple embellishments include a pair of die cut insects from Entomology Framelits and a butterfly from Ideaolgy Botanical Layers. I wiped some Evergreen Bough Distress paint on the butterfly with my finger and popped it up from the background. Quote Chips are a quick way to add a sentiment. I edged this one with Black Soot paint and inked it with  Evergreen Bough. Everything was adhered with Distress Collage Medium Matte.

I hope you enjoyed my card and hope you are enjoying some crafty time yourself!

Hugs and Blessings!
