Toil and Trouble

Sara Emily Barker http://sarascloset1.blogspot.com/ Toil and Trouble Card Using Tim Holtz Thinlits, Stamps and Ideaology 1

Hello friends! I took some time to play today while we are hunkered down waiting for hurricane Florence to knock on our door. All of our preparations are complete, and there's nothing else to do except wait. Why not get a little craft time in before the power goes out?  For those in the path of hurricane Florence, I wish you well. It looks as if many prayers have been answered. At least the winds have decreased from where they were a couple of days ago when this was in the Atlantic moving toward the coast.

I don't ordinarily go for witches, but these Paper Doll witches by Tim Holtz seem to be just having a little fun. I named them Toil and Trouble.

I colored a background panel with Antique LInen and Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide and stamped around the edge with Tim's Ornate Trims in Black Soot Distress ink.  I edged the panel with Ground Espresso ink. It's so easy to assure a straight perfectly aligned image when using the Stamp Platform. This is by far my favorite crafting tool. I considered sewing around the edge like I've seen on so many Halloween projects, but I was afraid by the time I got my machine threaded and a black bobbin wound, the power would have gone out, since it's already flickered a time or two.

I die cut watercolor paper using Tim's newly released Tangled Twigs and colored with Walnut Stain
oxide and Black Soot ink. I adhered it to the back panel using Distress Collage Medium Matte.

I cut two Stitched Ovals--one in black card and the other in Heavy Stock. I colored the Heavy Stock oval with Antique Linen oxide and embossed with my Botanical 3D Texture Fade. I coated it with Distress Crazing and let it dry. I colored it with watered down Black Soot Distress crayon and rubbed the edges with Vintage Photo crayon. I rubbed a bit of Picket Fence and then Seedless Preserves crayon over the edge of the black oval.

The witches Paper Doll and Halloween Quote Chip are both sanded and colored with crayons. I added a few bats from the Halloween Mixed Media Thinlits die.

That's it from me today! I can't wait to see what you create with your Halloween craft supplies!

Hugs and Blessings!
Sara Emily
