Discover Yourself

Guess what??? The sun is shining today!  I was inspired by our weather  to make this sunny card.

The design team at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog says anything goes!  I was surely inspired by the simple designs of the cards there.  So simple in style yet each a stunning little masterpiece!

I was also inspired by A Vintage Journey and Tim Holtz when I made this card.  A Vintage Journey is challenging us to use Distress Stains on our projects with a strong Tim influence.  While this might be a bit too flowery and simple to be associated  with Tim's style, I did use a few of his products and techniques on this. One technique is to use Distress Stain to dye ribbons and trims.  Although it may be hard to tell, I used Antique Linen and  Scattered Straw Distress stains on my flower trim. It started out very stark white. Another Tim technique is embossing with one of Tim's Texture Fades. I could have had some fun distressing that, like he does, but I wanted the kraft to really show.

Allsorts Challenges wants us to use favorite supplies or make a project relating to our favorite hobby, etc.  Butterflies are one of my favorite things...just count the butterflies I've used on projects since starting this blog this winter!  Die cuts are also a favorite embellishment on my projects. To make my butterflies,  I used Tim's Movers and Shapers butterfly,  a butterfly punch, and a page torn from one of my many vintage dictionaries (another favorite).

Paper Crafting Magic wants to see kraft cardstock used as a card base, a layer or element on our projects.  I think I covered all these. My card base is kraft, which I stamped randomly with a Stampin' Up flower and Tim's Pickett Fence Distress Marker (my all-time favorite marker!).  When it dries, it's whiteness magically appears.  But for this project, it needed to be toned down, so I dabbed Antique Linen, Scattered Straw and Mustard Seed Distress Stains over the flowers.  My top panel is also kraft, which I ran through my Big Kick with Tim's  embossing folder to give some texture. Finally, the sentiment is from Tim's Chit Chat stickers, (the kraft section), edged with Black Soot Distress Ink. The panel was backed with black cardstock, and this, the butterflies, trim, and Chit Chat stickers were adhered to the base.
