Since we are still in 'cold season', I always make sure I'm stocked up on tissues in my home, in my purse and in the car. For this theme, I would like to see how you incorporate tissue paper into your vintage or shabby chic project. You can use regular tissues, tissue wrapping paper, sewing patterns or even collage paper, rice papers or tissue wrap designed especially for crafting.
I forgot to mention those tissues come in handy for pollen season, too, which has just started in our neck of the woods. Everything is yellow!
As always, the Design Team will choose their top four picks, and the winner will be invited to join us in a Guest DT spot at Frilly and Funkie. The next three will receive Top 3 badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and follows the rules will be entered into the draw to have the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.
I've prepared a mini tutorial on how I used Tim Holtz Collage paper, if you care to follow along, or you could skip down to the close up photos.
Although this is a different collage paper scrap than what I used on my project, I wanted to show how easy it is to tear just the part of the image you wish to use. I chose Tim Holtz Floral Collage Paper, because the images are so pretty and perfect for spring. I use a water pen and outline the area I want to tear out. Then pulling it gently apart with my two fingers, I use my water pen to wet just the specific area I'm pulling apart. Tearing it like this, as opposed to cutting it helps it to blend into the background. I flip the collage paper over and apply Distress Picket Fence paint to the flower images to make them stand out and prevent the background pattern from showing through.
I had this stitched heart die cut in my stash--a gift from my good friend, Autumn, and it was perfect to use as my focal point along with a watercolor paper scrap and some Prima Tissue Tape (Amber Moon).
Smudging with background with Distress Crayons adds some age/vintage-ness.
After adhering another bit of the collage paper to the heart, I gave it a coat of Distress Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint. Antiqued Bronze Distress Crayon highlights those gorgeous cracks. I chose an Occasions Small Talk sticker for my sentiment.
It really is that simple--so why not pull out some collage, rice or tissue paper, sewing patterns or even just plain old Kleenex and play along with our challenge? I can't wait to see what YOU will create! Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a blessed day! Hugs! Sara Emily
