Come Let Us Adore Him!

Hello! It's time for a new challenge at A Vintage Journey. This month Julia is our hostess, and she has chosen the theme 'Starlight, Starbright'. Please stop by the blog to check out the details of the challenge and to see all the  fabulous starry inspiration from my fellow Creative Guides.

It was love at first sight when Tim Holtz first introduced his Wise Men Thinlits die set. Look at that fine detail! I cut two; one from sanded silver Metallic Kraft Stock and another from black card to make a subtle shadow.

The background is also silver Metallic Kraft Stock, and I clear embossed stars from Great Outdoors. Black Soot paint and Dusty Concord oxide ink make for a moody night sky with the slightest hint of color at the horizon.

You can see the shadow a bit better in the photo above. Sadly, I cut my shadow layer a bit too short, and it made a crease when I pressed my layers. Oh, well, it adds to the distressed look, right? LOL. I layered the panel over a white card panel and another that I smeared with glitter paste. It's hard to pick up the gorgeous shimmer on camera--you'll need to take my word on it that it's really pretty in real life.

I chose to use the star from Snowy Stars Thinlits, because it had more of a presence. I cut it from sanded gold Metallic Kraft Stock. I do love the delicacy of the star that comes with Wise Men; I just thought this one was better suited on this card.

I picked up three sentiment stamps at a yard sale this weekend that work perfectly with this die cut. I pulled the actual stamp from the wood block and added some removable double sided tape to the foam backing. This way I can use them in my Stamp Platform. I inked up an olive branch from the Winter Watercolor set with Distress Markers and spritzed with water to give the sentiment a little more importance within the card.

I hope you enjoyed my simple card! I can't wait to see what YOU will create!

Merry Christmas!

  5. How magical! That shimmering night sky is just amazing - so clever how you created it. The delicate die-cut silhouettes pop beautifully against the midnights depths and the golden star gleams perfectly to lead them onward through the night.

  9. This is beautiful Sara Emily!
My Mom used to save all of their cards that came at Christmas of the 3 Kings on their camels, taped to the inside of our kitchen cupboard.
I guess there was a Russian folklore or myth, told from her family, that said if you did this, health and wealth would follow you through the year.
Well, I never really noticed any difference growing up,but I find myself repeating her tradition as well-LOL
    Happy Advent season to you-

Thanks for your visit my friend...I appreciate it so much! I to have had a rough time trying to keep up with everything as well. I have still been making several trips back home since my Dad passed away to help my Mom so my blogging/crafting time has been limited.
Sending big hugs and I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!
