Cold Outside - 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style Week 6

Hello again! It's hard not to get in the Christmas spirit when you're playing along with Linda's (Funkie Junkie) 12 Tags of Christmas! I just finished Week 6  having drawn quite a blank at first. I was certainly inspired by the snow and silver elements on Linda's tag HERE, but I think I was having a battle with myself on how to make what I envision as a snowbank on Linda's tag. So I told myself I was overthinking it, and I ought to just go get started and see what happens. This is what happened...

I really wanted to include the Starry stencil with crackle that Linda used, and I went with an old Spellbinders die cut. Thank you, Kathy! (Kathy By Design) She generously gave these and other Spellbinders sets to me several years ago, and I never tire of the intricate edge on this one!

I highlighted the cracks of the dried paste with Silver Mixative, just like Linda did, but I used a cotton swab to apply my color. You can see I colored outside the lines a time or two. I edged my chosen Quote Chip with Distress Crayon and scribbled some on the top, too, wiping it back to leave a little frosty look. Having had some problems cutting the Deco Sheets before, this time I remembered to stick it onto some card before cutting the intricate cuts. Works like a charm!

I chose this sweet gleeful snowman charm from Linda's shop and simply patted it with Picket Fence Distress paint and attached it along with a Tiny Tag and Tabs die cut tag with some old Christmastime Remnant Rubs.

I sanded the edges of my Christmas Kraftcore panel, inked with Glacier White pigment  ink and heat embossed with Soft Fallen Snow embossing powder.

That's another one done! I hope you're playing along with Linda's fun challenge which is generously sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique. There are prizes for three lucky winners, and everyone who completes the challenge and follows the guidelines will receive a gift voucher for The Funkie Junkie Boutique to use in January! Her simple guidelines and challenge details are outlined HERE.

I'm sharing with these fine challenges:

Thank you for stopping by and for all your sweet comments! They warm my heart!

  1. You did a fabulous job on this Sara, those glittery snowflakes are so beautiful, and you are so right, the intricate edge on the die is wonderful. The happy snowman is delightful too! I can't see where you coloured outside the lines but I find it quite liberating (I think) when I do it!! Hugs, Anne xx

  13. Absolutely gorgeous Sara! I love that frame cut, how wonderful to get some nice gifts that you can use over and over again! The silver star pattern is wonderful, so eye catching and a great tie in to Linda's tag. Beautiful palette, red and silver so go well together and it's such a festive combo! My favourite bit is the little snowman charm! I have such a thing for cute charms, and this little guy is adorable! A wonderful take on the original tag Sara, so Christmassy!!

Thanks so much for the link to the bark snowflakes. I had completely forgotten where I picked those up from. Will definitely be ordering more of those sometime! hugs :)

  17. Great alternative shaping of Linda's Tag 6. It makes a really lovely card. I'll confess, I've slightly slowed down on it - it's sitting on my table at the moment uncertain of where to go next. Maybe I'll take your advice and stop thinking too hard and see where I land up!

  18. I just love this. It looks so cool and frosty with the sanded edges and the silvery embossed stars. The results you achieved when you relexed and simply played are fantastic. That Spellbinders die is fabulous and the die cut looks so pretty with the silver embossed Starry stencil. This is one of my favorites, Sara Emily.

    Hugs,
    Linda
