Valentine's Day Card Set with Tim Holtz Geo Frames and Crochet 2

Sara Emily Barker https://sarascloset1.blogspot.com/ Tim Holtz Sizzix Geo Frames Crochet 2 Valentine Card Set Tutorial 1

Hello friends! I had some fun making some heart themed cards using Tim Holtz Geo Frames and Crochet 2 Thinlits die sets. These cards are for several different occasions: Valentine's Day , a Valentine's day birthday and a thank you card. Since I used pretty much the same thing on each card, I made them assembly line fashion.

This one is for my sister in law's birthday. For each of the cards, I colored a watercolor panel with Distress Spray Oxides in Antique Linen and Worn Lipstick. I blended each panel with Vintage Photo ink and splashed with water and dried. The edges are blended with Black Soot ink.

I made this Valentine card for my husband's mom and dad--still happy together after all these years!

I used Tim's old Hearts stencil with Opaque Crackle paste and set them aside to dry. I had several Geo Frames hearts already cut from Metallic Kraft Stock in Gold and Rose Gold and one from Tim's old paper stash (below). I had backed one of the Rose Gold hearts with vellum which I splattered with Picket Fence paint. Each of the metallic hearts was colored with Cracked Pistachio paint and Mushroom and Rust alcohol inks.

This one is for my daughter; it's our special phrase to one another, and I'm so happy to see it on Tim's Metallic Quotations. The bit of basket filler under the heart makes it a little quirky for a young lady in her early 20's.

I cut another heart from water color paper I sprayed with Worn Lipstick DOXS. I stamped the center with  School Days stamp in Hickory Smoke Archival ink and spread it and the paper stash heart with Distress Crazing Medium. When dry, I rubbed with Vintage Photo Distress Crayon to accentuate the cracks.

This is a thank you card for my sister -- a little late, but she expects that from me. :)

Now that the crackle paste had dried on the background, I did some stamping in Hickory Smoke Archival with stamps from School Desk, Documented, Entomology and my very first Tim Holtz clear stamp (can't recall the name) sets. The Crochet 2 is cut from Rose Gold card stock and colored with Cracked Pistachio paint and Mushroom and Rust alcohol inks. The sentiment is a Clippings Sticker.

This is for my best friend --she's been with me through thick and thin for over 20 years. Lucky me!

This is the frame portion of the heart cut from Worn Lipstick sprayed card. I cut a piece of recycled greeting card to mount it on and re-inserted the little pieces. Once I gave it a coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte to keep all those pieces in place, I aged it with Vintage Photo crayon and a tiny bit of water on my finger.

Here's a Valentine I made from my husband's brother and his wife.

This heart was cut from thick white card. The pieces stayed in when I removed the die, so I gave it a coat of collage medium on the back to hold the pieces in place. I inked the front with Vintage Photo and Black Soot inks. You can see where some of the collage medium got on the front and resisted the ink (pretend it's a plan). I had some of the rusty Crochet 2 die cut left, so I cut it to fit the heart's center.Another of the Crochet 2 die cuts is colored with Antique Linen DOX spray, mushroom alcohol ink, Vintage Photo crayon and Black Soot ink.

To say I am in love with what the tiniest bit of Mushroom alcohol ink tapped onto the inky card stock Crochet die cut does to age it is a gross understatement! Oh, and the more I use my oxide sprays the more I am in love with them, too!

The crackled hearts started to chip a bit when I smudged them with Vintage Photo crayon, so I tapped each of  them with a bit of collage medium to hold all those great bits in place.

I hope you enjoyed my play day as much as I did! Wishing you all a very Happy Valentine's Day! I might be back if I'm happy with the card I'll squeak in for my husband. Sara Emily
