Tim Holtz Botanical Heart Card

Hello friends! I have a quick Valentine's Day card to share today. The stitched heart die cut at the center of things is one that I cut with Autumn's dies when we met up around this time last year. I don't recall the maker. Pretty much everything else is Tim Holtz.

While my Mom loves roses, red ones might not be at the top of her list of favorites. Because Simon Says Stamps says 'Add Some Red', she's getting a bouquet of red roses and will have to enjoy the other pretty shades of blossoms in the background. Sorry, Mom!

Botanical Collage paper was adhered to the heart which I backed with a second chipboard heart I hand cut to give it stability. I gave it a coat of Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint, and when it was dry smeared with Distress Crayon in Tarnished Brass. I wrapped it in gold thread from my stash.  I also adhered a portion of the collage paper to the background card and sealed it with Crazing medium.

I applied just a bit of the crayon to the raised portions of the Botanical 3D embossing, as well as to the background panel to highlight those subtle cracks and to the edges of my card blank. I used a Stacked Postage Thinlits die for the embossed panel and layered it over a sanded Stitched Rectangle cut from Metallic Kraft Stock.

I'm on a mission to make all of my mailed cards flat due to the rising costs of our postage; I think mission accomplished with this one. I was in such a rush to get this flat card in the mail this morning, I forgot to take a photo of the stamped Valentine greeting inside.

Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and blessings! Sara Emily

  8. A Vintage treat this is Sara, I love those crackles and how they have been highlighted. There is much much more upon this than the photo cares to share. A heart wrapped beautifully. What a delight for the person on the receiving end.
It's not an easy task to create a card with so much detail that can lay as flat.
    STUNNING!!
Wishing you a wonderful and creative weekend ahead.
