To create my background I chose a summer themed paper by Pion and die cut with Sizzix Mixed Media #2 Thinlits on the reverse side so I could use the cut in the bottom left corner. I colored the mixed media paper underneath with DOX Peeled Paint, Cracked Pistachio and Walnut Stain. Aren't those colors just yummy peeking through?
The hydrangeas in my garden are starting to fade, so I colored my Sizzix Small Tattered Florals accordingly. I used DOX Wilted Violet and Faded Jeans, twisted them up into the sweetest tiny flowers and gave them a single Art Stone each, colored with Wilted Violet Distress stain. I tucked a few tissue paper single layered flowers behind and added some mini art stones here and there just for fun. The bits of foliage are Tattered Lace Ornate Leaves.
The treble clef ( Poppystamps Meloy Music Die) echos the music in the background and is dipped in Peeled Paint DOX. This particular die is no longer available but you can see Scrapy Land's huge selection of music themed dies here.
The Frantic Stamper Dragonfly Pair is also colored with DOX. Spellbinders Opulent Ovals is colored with mop up oxide color from my craft mat and Penny Black Splendid Wishes is colored with DOX Faded Jeans without water. I love how rich the color is. An easy way to get pure Oxide color on these delicate cuts is to turn them over onto the ink pad and press them into the color with the blending tool. It gets the color not only on the top but around the thin edges as well, and you don't risk wrinkling your die cut. I also like to dip mine into a watery puddle of color, but the Oxides will fade somewhat with the addition of water.
That's all for me today! Now it's your turn! Please head over to Scrapy Land to see all the amazing inspiration from my talented team mates! Deep Ocean Challenge-Challenge #158: "Lots of Layers" I've layered my flowers, my dragonfly and my background.
Mix It Up-MIUCB #3 - Anything Goes + Distressing I went with the option-distressed flowers and wrinkle free distress technique on the background.
