Hello crafty friends and visitors! It's been hot, hot, hot here, so after weeks of doing nothing but getting the garden in shape for summer, I decided to spend some time indoors and make this card.
I have soooo many old rubber on wood block stamps, and I've been sorting through them to see which I can get rid of. I was on the fence about this one (as I am with many of the old ones--I am such a
stamp craft hoarder!) and set it aside to use for
Mixed Media Monthly challenge "Put a Stamp On It".
The focal image (Magenta) is inked in distress Oxides. I painted the ink on the stamp with my water brush and spritzed it lightly with water before making my impression onto mixed media card. I went back in with Frayed Burlap and Tumbled Glass Distress inks to color the background and frame. The subtle script is by Bo Bunny inked in Potting Soil Archival. I inked the flowers and butterfly from the image a second (and third and fourth) time (Wilted Violet and Dried Marigold DOX), water colored with DI's (Blueprint Sketch and Squeezed Lemonade), fussy cut and shaped them for a tiny bit of dimension.
The background panel is colored with DOX and Distress inks (I can't remember the colors exactly, since this was my
4th background I made for this card!) and stamped and embossed with Prima's chicken wire and the tiniest script from Happy Little Stampers. I love that delicate script! The chicken wire die cut is Tim Hotlz Mixed Media Thinlit, and I also used his Linen ribbon. A splatter of Ground Expresso ink gives it some foxing. My quote is Stampin' Up, inked in Potting Soil, and adhered to waste chipboard to give dimension.
I'll be sharing this card with the following challenges:
Thank you for stopping by today and for all your lovely comments!

Sara, this is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuper gorgeous vintage card Sara! Love all the flower images, the water coloured ones in the background are so beautiful and the fussy cut lilac ones are such gorgeous eye catching elements! Love all the ripped layers and the bits tucked in behind them. The chicken wire works so well for a garden card! Lovely little butterflies fluttering about too. So amazing, and works for any occasion!
ReplyDeleteSo your garden must be coming along nicely. I went to pick up some Morning Glories, as they are my favourite since I got that beautiful purple one last year. Come to find out they have been categorized as a narcotic and you can't purchase them anymore! Apparently some kids discovered that if you eat the seeds, you can get high!! GET A FREAKING HOBBY! I was so disappointed. So many of the popular plants are toxic to either the dogs or the squirrels, so I ended up with plants that I'm not that thrilled with. Next year, I'll be planting my own flowers!! sending hugs to you :)
What a beautiful piece of art, Sara Emily, and it looks perfect in your garden on that gorgeous Hosta (looks like some of mine)! I love stamping on the torn panel and so glad you kept that stamp! Your inky background is equally awesome with the chicken wire, script and ribbon. Beautiful sentiment, as well. Hugs :-)

In answer to your question on A Inky Mess no need to use a stamp and we often get digis given to use-but if you do any designer is fine as long as there is some mixed media/inks used
