12 Tags of Christmas-Funkie Junkie Style-Week 4

Hello friends! It's time for another card for Linda's 12 Tags of Christmas challenge, and I should have another ready for posting later today! I've been keeping very busy with all my Guest Designer spots this month, too, so I should have quite a few projects coming up for you in the next week as well.

Linda is generously offering THREE whopping gift voucher's to her shop The Funky Junkie Boutique for the winner of this challenge. And if you link up to all 12 challenges, you get a 15% discount at her store just for playing!!!  Please visit her blog for the details of her challenge, and for tons of wonderful Christmas inspiration! Here is her week 4 tag, from which I drew my inspiration:

It's pretty apparent my inspiration came from her lovely plaid background and her festive poinsettia, although I took a different color route.  Don't laugh, but my color inspiration came from my pastor's outfit last Sunday!  He had on the prettiest red and grey plaid tie, and it looked so sharp against his white shirt and black suit! Perhaps he needs to dress a little shabbier, so I won't be distracted from his Message! So on the way home from church, all I could think about is how that color combo in plaid would look great on a Christmas card! Ha! Ha! And then I spotted Linda's tag, and I had to get started right away!

I used Tim's Stripes and Festive stencils as Linda did, and my colors are Barn Door and Hickory Smoke, and I used the last of my black texture paste. Just barely had enough to do this pattern twice across my landscape oriented card.

I used Tim's Tattered Poinsettia die and Texture Fade, colored it with Hickory Smoke, and gave it a dusting of Rock Candy Distress Glitter.  Glitter is a real challenge for me to photograph, but hopefully you can use your imagination--this is quite twinkly! Christmas red Stickles for the center and on my La La Land berry sprig.  I left the holly die cut (Tim Holtz--Festive Greenery), the largest poinsettia and the sprig white so they really show off the tie..er..I mean plaid background!

The sentiment is a Top Dog die cut in white card with the bottom layer inked in Hickory Smoke. This has got to be my personal favorite card I've made so far this year, and I can't wait to send it to Pastor Tim and thank him for his incredible inspiration, both in his sermon and in his tie!

And speaking of thanking those who inspire, Linda, you are a treasure to do this challenge! Without you, I am certain everyone would be getting a store bought card, and that would be so Bah! Hum Bug!

Off to the Closet for hopefully another card making frenzy! I will post a shot of my Closet at the end, if you promise not to think poorly of me!  Raise your hand if you have 4 square inches to work on your craft room table!  I have 4 x 6 inches; just 24 square inches of free space! How can someone work in those conditions you ask????

I would like to enter this card into the following inspiring challenges:
Scrapy Land Challenge #31 Anything Goes I used Sizzix and La La Land dies, sold at Scrapy Land.  This is my final entry:)!

Thank you for your visit today and for your wonderful encouraging comments!
Hugs and Christmas Blessings

  17. Love the plaid background. Even though I am trying to get more decorator style with my Christmas decor, I still hung my pine cone wreath with the plaid bow and draped the red plaid tablecloth over a little round table. I guess some things are hard to let go of. Thanks for joining us at Frilly and Funkie.
    Hugs!
