Dreamer of Dreams-Emerald Creek Dares-Dreams

Hello friends and visitors! It's time for a new challenge over at Emerald Creek Dares, and this month the theme is 'Dreams'. Kim would like us to feature imagination and think fairies, unicorns, whimsy, and dragons. So I chose to make a wall hanging featuring a fairy and lots of imagination.

I embossed my fairy chippie from Southern Ridge Trading Company with Onyx Frost embossing powder, Fractured Ice for her hair and Iridescent Shimmer for the wings. I embossed card stock with Easter Parade embossing powder for the wing's backing.

For the background, I blended Distress inks in Broken China, Faded Jeans and Mowed Lawn on mixed media card and splattered with water. I blotted with a clean paper towel to remove the water and ink and blended with Squeezed Lemonade Distress ink. I used EC's Kimilese stamp and dipped it into water sprayed on my craft sheet.  I stamped this randomly on the background and blotted again with a clean towel.

I splattered with watered down Picket Fence Distress ink, and sprinkled on Iridescent Shimmer powder. I dried from underneath to prevent the powder from blowing away. I love how it left the shimmer around the edges of the splatters.

I mixed up a batch of Moss Stone Green and Iridescent Shimmer EP's and used it to emboss the Branch Out stamp on the background and on the wood frame.

The frame is a thick wood chipboard I picked up at a yard sale. I coated it with gesso and colored it with Distress Stains in Mowed Lawn and Broken China.

To finish my hanging, I added a couple of Remnant Rubs and some of the tiniest bits of Pyrite Gemstones in my package.

  18. Absolutely breathtaking Sara, and what a contrast to the grungy card post I just came from. Really shows how versatile you are with your crafting styles! This project is so beautiful, I absolutely adore the colour palette you have used, what a lovely rainbow of spring tones! The black fairy really pops against that splashy, splattery, incredible rainbow! I am never tired of seeing the many creative uses you come up for to use embossing powder! The hair embossing powder is so much fun, and glittery wings is just the thing a fairy needs! I love the little sentiment and the fairy dust you created on her hand! Another amazing project Sara, you rock!! hugs :)
