Hello friends and visitors! It's the middle of the month and that means it's time for a new challenge at Scrapy Land. The theme this time is Spring Blooms plus use any brand die that Scrapy Land sells. They sell over 50 brands, so that shouldn't be too difficult!
Since I made this card quite some time ago for a friend who was in the hospital, I'm a little foggy on all the details. This was her favorite shade of pink. Unfortunately for me, but wonderful for her, she is now in Heaven. I will do my best to give you the high points. For my focal image, I chose one of my favorite Tim Holtz dies of all time (I do use it a lot!) Sizzix Ornate Frame. I covered it in texture paste and lightly sprinkled with Frantage embossing powder, heating after the paste had dried.
The two larger flowers in pink are made with Sizzix Tattered Florals die. The beautiful single white blossom was made by my sweet friend and talented teamie Samra (Paper Talk With Samra). Please pay her a visit if you haven't. She makes the most elegant cards in her unmistakable shabby chic style.
I tucked in a Felicity Tiny Doily by Cheery Lynn behind the flowers. I love splashing my inky backgrounds with water and blotting with a clean cloth to get the spots. Splash with more water to get inky dots.
Foliage is by Prima's Forest Leaves.
The berries, lace and vintage seam binding are from my stash.
I tucked a couple of pieces of the lovely Quinn Flourish by Memory Box between my layers. Everything is layered on a stamped (Prima) and aged panel. The pink panel is stenciled with paste and a Tim Holtz stencil and painted with gesso and Worn Lipstick Distress ink. Looks like a little Vintage Photo or possibly Frayed Burlap, too. There's a little script stamping in the background, although I don't know who's script it is. I can tell you the tiny birds are from Tim's Tiny Things set. That one gets a lot of action, too. The stamped and colored butterfly was hoarded from another life time ago, so I don't know who the maker is on that either.
That's all for today! I hope you'll stop by Scrapy Land Challenges to see all the amazing projects my talented teamies made using their Spring Blooms! Then it's over to you so you can be in the running for a generous $15 gift certificate from the Scrapy Land shop.
I am entering my card into these challenges:
Creative Artiste's Challenge #25-"Anything Mixed Media Goes" I used paint, texture paste, ink, and gesso at minimum.
Simon Says Stamp Monday-Simon Says: Splash It On-I splashed water onto my two inky background panels to mingle the ink and to remove color for dots of white.
Fashionable Stamping Challenges-Challenge #122 – Sound Of Music – My Favourite Things--Raindrops on Roses, my favorite stamps-birds, lace, and script.
Thank you for your visit today and for all your inspiring comments! I read and appreciate each and every one!
Hugs and Blessings!
Sara Emily

Oh dear, I spent half an hour making one flower with my largest tattered florals and it pales in comparison to your gorgeous pink blossoms! Also to Samra's beautiful crisp white flower. (Try as I may...) LOL! You have certainly captured a gorgeous grungy design here, but with a delicate balance which is exactly what I love! The gorgeous texture pastes & inks are all wonderful details. I know your friend treasured this card during her last days. I know it has been hard for you to lose her. :( Much love to you today and everyday. And P.S. I had four posts scheduled for the same morning - but am going to push my TD one out 'til tomorrow. It's a bummer to work so hard and fear that the first ones will be missed. And P.S.S. Still staring at that you know what... HA!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous color and combination of dies on your beautiful card! I love what you did to the Sizzix Ornate Frame ~ it looks amazing!

ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely "shabby" vintage creation, Sara! I hope your friend has recovered from being in the hospital. Your blossoms are glorious, reminding me of the hybrid camellias and roses in my grandpa's garden. We have the camellias now, and they are so ruffled and full! Just like your pretty pink masterpiece! The frame around the edge of your card, and the pink stenciled areas are soulfully lovely. Beautifully done, Sara! hugs, de
