Snowflakes...Glisten

Hello crafty friends and visitors! Welcome back! Today I have another set of cards for you in a CAS style--or at least CAS for me! I mistakenly titled my last post Glisten, so here we are again! If you read my last post, you'll know one of my crafty resolutions for 2017 is to try new styles, and the one I'm working on right now is CAS. Yet another thing I've resolved to do in my craft room is to make more than one of my cards at a time, if it's not too complicated of a project, a good plan to follow I learned from my talented friend, Lisa of A Mermaids Crafts. If you haven't been over to see her yet, be sure to pay her a visit--she makes the most gorgeous, mostly shabby chic creations!

I started with a piece of mixed media paper, and laid 3 of the Tim Holtz Paper Snowflakes, mini die cuts on it. I applied Distress inks in Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Shaded Lilac to a large acrylic block, spritzed with water and blended somewhat with my finger. I turned this over onto my masked paper to transfer the watery color. While the color looks good, my intention of having little white snowflakes left behind didn't exactly turn out. Next I heat embossed the snowflakes from Tim's Woodland Scribble set using Broken China ink and Emerald Creek's Soft Fallen Snow. I also spritzed the card with my new water spritzer and sprinkled on more of the embossing powder, then heated to get the tiny shimmery spots. Last I inked the snowflake stamp, spritzed with water and stamped for a watery image.

I tried something a little different with my die cuts on the "Snowflakes"card, leaving behind  little ghosts of  flakes. I'll let you know how I did that on my next post.

The snowflakes get an extra punch of dimension by dipping them backs down in a puddle of watery ink. This allows the ink to get around the edges. The fronts were given the watercolor effect using the acrylic block technique.

Chit Chat  stickers finish off my simple cards . Truly, these are "simple" cards, but I'm not too sure many of you might call them "clean". Hey, I'm new at this!

I'm entering my cards into the following challenges:
Frilly and Funkie-New Year's Inspiration One of my crafty goals for 2017 is to try new styles and another is to use old tried and true mediums and  techniques. Here, I've tried CAS, something I've never really done, and used an old technique of using ink on another surface to transfer the color for a watercolor effect.

Thank you for dropping by today and for all of your amazing comments!
Hugs and Blessings!
Sara Emily

I'm sure it's nice to make more than one card at a time, too. Something else I need to learn to do! Thanks for the inspiration and look forward to more. Hugs!

  23. Very smart idea and one I need to take into account as well. Isn't Lisa a genius! Those ghost flakes are incredible and awesome sauce. I really like the clean look of this so the focus is on the snowflakes and your gorgeously gorgeous background. Is there anything you can't do? I don't think so. Huge Hugz to you muffin! ~Punkin
