A Trio of Wishes

Welcome friends and visitors I hope you are enjoying a peaceful start to the New Year! Perhaps tidying up your craft rooms and purging the old so you can focus on the new Christmas goodies you received? Well, I tried that, and ended up with a big mess! The container holding loose brads fell off a shelf and broke, spreading bits of shrapnel all over the place! I'm not talking just a few brads, either! I'm sure I'll be picking them out of my carpet for a few more weeks!

I did get to spend some crafty time in my Closet, too, and I made this trio of thank you cards to send to my extended family for their thoughtful Christmas gifts. These are based on my design Wish For Peace on Earth with a few minor changes. You may see dark spots in some of the photos. That was caused by my lighting, and for some reason I just couldn't get rid of it. And yes, that's a splotch of red ink in the middle of one of the backgrounds-I'm learning to embrace imperfection!

These are all the same in design, and the only difference is I used a gum wrapper glued to chipboard to cut my deer from on one of the cards and a junk mail envelope for the others. The die I used is Impression Obsession Deer Trio and I edged in Frayed Burlap Distress ink.

These may be very similar in design to my Wish For Peace on Earth card, but the background was finished using different products to achieve a snowy background. My daughter gave me a Tim Holtz water spritzer for Christmas, and it really does a lot better job that my old spritz and flick with my hand. I also used my splatter brush and white acrylic paint for snow, and before the paint dried, dusted it with a mixture of glitters and embossing powders.

The tiny gold snowflakes are heat embossed with a portion of a larger stamp image from my stash and a gold powder mix I made. I used the same powder mix to emboss the Tim Holtz Handwritten Celebrate Thinlits die cut.

I love that I was able to capture some of that sparkle on the camera in the shot below. I used two of the stencils from Tim's mini layering stencils set 21 and Distress inks (Candied Apple and Evergreen Bough) for my backgrounds. The bluish layer is colored using Distress Spray in Evergreen Bough and Perfect Pearl spray.

I do hope you like my version of a CAS card, and I do have wishes for you to have a Happy, healthy and creative New Year!

I'm sharing my cards with these challenges:
