Howdy! We're closing in on the end of Linda's
12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style, which is an annual fun 12 week challenge at
The Funkie Junkie blog. It's generously sponsored by
The Funkie Junkie Boutique; 3 lucky winners will receive gift certificates for a shopping spree to the shop, and everyone who completes the challenge and follows the simple
guidelines will receive a discount coupon to use on their January Funkie Junkie orders!
I couldn't decide if this card looks better in natural light or the glaring light on my craft table, so here's one of each. I couldn't pick up the shimmer outdoors, but you get an idea in the bright light of an OTT lamp.
You can check out Linda's inspiring, sparkling tag
HERE. I was obviously bitten by the glitter bug when I visited her blog, and also inspired by the Sparkles stamping, wreath, the gorgeous stamped/stenciled background, and those shimmery snowflakes!
Just having finished a little shopping spree of my own at
The Funkie Junkie Boutique, I didn't dare go back for more and get the BoBunny Glitter Paste Linda used, so I made my own. Not as sparkly as BoBunny, but will do in a pinch. Perhaps Santa will bring me some of the 'good stuff', but until then I'll have to make do. I also didn't have the Tinsel stencil, but I think the Stripes gives it a tinsel vibe.
I really love the Pine Needles ink on Linda's Wreath and sentiment banner, and I used it to color my Impression Obsession circles die cut, the Spellbinders circle die cut and two of my background layers. I also added a spritz or two of Perfect Pearls in Heirloom Gold to one layer for more shimmer that only can be appreciated in real life.
I did my snowflakes just like Linda, with a touch of Prima Metallique wax. I chose White Gold to go with my gold stripes. I can see why Linda's addicted to this stuff--it's so easy to use with a lot of impact, and to me, it smells wonderful! I might need to put a dab in my candle warmer! Tee Hee!
I don't have the berries that Linda used, but my old Holiday Greens in the mini's works just fine with a little Platinum Stickles.
A few of my snowflakes are serving to cover some embossing mistakes on the back panel, which is heat embossed on kraft card and blended with Pine Needles ink. If a little imperfection in one's life is good for the soul, my soul has improved greatly with this card.
And my first deer love--Tim's Reindeer Flight is simply inked in Frayed Burlap and Ground Espresso inks and the fawn spots are Frantage embossing powder. The little red bow is colored with DOX, a takeaway from Linda's pretty painted bow.
The most difficult part of this design was choosing an appropriate sentiment. I had at least a half dozen candidates and finally settled on heat embossing a portion of a sentiment from the Scribble Woodland stamp set on a Labels Thinlits die cut.
That wraps up another week of the challenge. I'm almost caught up and beginning to feel a little sad it's almost over!
I'm sharing with:
I should have another one popped out for you in another day or two. Until then, thank you so much for stopping in today and for your lovely comments! I know we are all so busy this time of year, so your visits are that much more precious!
Hugs and Blessings!

ReplyDeleteHey sweetie, apologies for my lack of visits, health issues are not nice lol! Now this caught my eye on my reading list and I just had to come take a closer look, it is stunning! I'm most definitely not a glitter lover but the one time of year that it is mandatory is at Christmas and I love how you've used it here. I have a pot of the Prima wax, my goodness I almost licked it - it's so vanilla like, a really yummy aroma which is unusual for waxes lol. Have a lovely weekend sweetie Karen xx
