Love Notes

Good morning!  Here is a card made especially for my brother in law and his lovely wife.  They are a fun couple, so I wanted to make them a fun, non-traditional Valentine's card.

The background is embossed with tim's Texture Fade.  I swiped on some gesso with a credit card and when dry inked it with Distress inks in Gathered Twigs, Scattered Straw and Spun sugar.  I wiped it with a damp baby wipe to get this cool variegation.

I added Tim's foil tape to grungeboard and embossed with the same folder.  Seedless Preserves, Gathered Twigs and Black Soot Distress paints were wiped on and spritzed with water to blend and dried. I rubbed the surface with a kitchen scrubby thing to remove some of the paint, and scratched randomly with a pick. I backed this with burlap ribbon.

The big pink/purple heart was made with Tim's marbling technique using Distress paints in Spun Sugar, Picket Fence and Seedless Preserves, followed with a couple of spritzes of Brushed Pewter stain in my mini mister while the paint was still wet for an amazing effect. I cut the heart free hand and edged with Vintage Photo Distress ink.

The black and silver heart was left over from another project; painted with Distress paint and Rock Candy Distress glitter.  For this card I added Black Soot and Brushed Pewter distress paints  to the heart and moved the colors around with my finger. Another very cool effect.  The smallest heart is chipboard that I had tried using Distress Glitter on, but didn't like the look, so I covered it with some more foil tape and used alcohol inks to color.  I think the glitter under the foil gave it a nice distressed look. Looks as if there might be a nice chocolate wrapped up in there!

And for my metallic textured heart, again I covered grunge paper with foil tape and embossed with one of Tim's Texture Fades--either Regal or Damask and painted and distressed same as the Valentine strip.  I added a spinner arrow which I treated with Distress paints--Gathered Twigs and Black Soot.

I glued on a couple of Chit Chat stickers and gave a coat of Glue and Seal.  I outlined them with Distress marker, and then swiped them with my finger.

For Annie's Tic Tac Toe challenge at  A Vintage Journey I was able to complete the first vertical line including metal embellishment (spinner arrow), paint on the foil tape embellishments and foil tape.

This is hands down my favorite Valentine's Day card I made this year.  I'm very pleased with how well all the techniques worked out and how putting this card together was purely a joy.

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful day with your sweetheart on this Valentine's Day.  Thank you for taking time to come have a look and for leaving all your lovely comments! I read and appreciate every one, and eventually I reply.  I apologize I am a little behind in my replies right now, but I've read all your wonderful, encouraging comments. Please be sure to check back on Monday evening to see if you are the lucky winner of my random draw. I will be posting one more Valentine, hopefully, tomorrow. I finally finished my husband's this evening. Hugs!
