Hello friends and visitors! I'm excited to say that today marks the a new challenge at A Vintage Journey. The lovely and talented Jennie is our hostess this time, and she has chosen the theme 'Crazy For Autumn Color'. Nothing makes me happier that taking a walk on a crisp, sunny autumn afternoon, so I wanted my card to convey that feeling.
Jennie says: Choose a bold, colourful, autumn palette this month for your vintage; shabby; mixed media; art journalling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk project. Let's see those wonderful autumn colours in all their glory!
I didn't take many photos as I was creating, but I did get this shot of the background as it was coming together. I started with a sheet of water color paper and added some Distress Oxides randomly. Next, I used Tim's Flourish stencil and added Ranger Transparent Matte texture paste. You can see in the photo below it starts out glossy, but dries to a matte finish.
I die cut some leaves using Tim's Fall Foliage Thinlits and colored them with DOX in some fall colors. When completely dry, I applied DecoArt's Crackle Glaze thickly/thinly and randomly and let that dry overnight. Lastly, I rubbed Ground Espresso Distress Crayon into the cracks and crinkled the leaves.
On the inside of the card, I used the card I cut the leaves from as a stencil and blended Walnut Stain DOX through it for shadowy leaves and added a few more die cuts colored with DOX.
I cut the tag free hand from some mop up card, and made the reinforcer using a punch and a standard hole puncher.
A lovely pair out for a stroll from Tim's Paper Dolls frolic in the leaves. A pair of seasonal Chit Chat stickers make an appropriate sentiment.
The seam binding ribbon and doily die cut were also colored with DOX
That's it for me today! I hope you'll visit A Vintage Journey to see all the wonderful seasonal inspiration from my teammates! And then it's over to you! I hope you'll play along for a chance to win a wonderful autumnal bundle of Calico Craft Parts Wood and MDF products.
