I started by stamping children's chunky foam snowflake stamps on white card ( Yes, these are leftover from when my teenagers were little kids!) using Picket Fence Distress paint. I sprayed with my DecoArt Shimmer Mister in white, then quickly wiped with a damp paper towel because the mist came out in a blob! Just to let you know how wonderful they are over at DecoArt, they are sending me a replacement right away for my defective mister--thank you DecoArt--you are awesome!
I spritzed with Turquoise Perfect Pearls mist and wiped the painted snowflakes with a damp towel to remove the mist from them. When finally dry, I stamped Stampin' Up snowflakes in Watering Can Archival ink, then flicked on some watered down Brushed Pewter Distress paint.
If you look real hard you can see those chunky white snowflakes in the background.
The white layer (actually it's flipped over unloved patterned paper (waste not, want not)), which is debossed using Tim Holtz Snowflake Texture Fade. I swiped the raised surface around the snowflakes on the folder with Brushed Pewter and spritzed my paper lightly with water before inserting it in the folder and running it through my Big Kick. I flicked on a little more of the watered down Brushed Pewter paint, and added texture paste to the distressed edges.
For the top most blue layer, I heat embossed a Tim Holtz Holiday Collections image and spritzed with Turquoise Perfect Pearl mist, wiping the mist off the embossed areas. Once again, I flicked on some watered down Brushed Pewter paint and added texture paste to the distressed edges (top only).
I used my brand new Tim Holtz Snowflake Duo and Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers dies for the snowflakes. They are painted with Brushed Pewter, and topped off with Rock Candy Distress Glitter and Liquid Pearls. I edged them and touched some of the raised areas with Black Soot Distress paint A flat backed pearl and some string finish off my snowy Christmas card..
I would like to thank Avril and the entire Design Team at TIOT for inviting me to play along today! I had a lot of fun!
I would like to enter this into the following inspiring challenges:
A Vintage Journey Vintage Christmas My Tim Holtz influence is in his Distress paint, his snowflakes dies, and his stamps- Holiday Collections, as well as his signature distressing, making everything look vintage!
-Scrapy Land Challenge # 31 Anything Goes I used two different Sizzix dies.
-Mod Squad Challenge Here Are the Ingredients, You Make the Card My ingredients are embossing, pattern paper, (you don't see it; I flipped over the white layer--using up my unloved pattern paper!) rubber stamps, favorite color (blue), glitter/bling, die cut, and if you can count my string as ribbon, then ribbon!
Thank you for your visit to my blog today and for all your amazing comments!
Hugs and Blessings!

Hi Sara, lovely to have you with us as guest DT at TIOT this week, your make is gorgeous, as always. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWow Sara, you really know how to create a wintery wonderland on your cards!! I'm so jealous that you have the snowflake duo die, me wants it!! The aqua is just so calming, I adore the blues...as we well know! HA!! I bet the shimmer of the perfect pearls is much more amazing in real life, that stuff is impossible to capture on camera. The black layer really makes the pale blues and whites pop off the page, and I love all your shabby distressed edges! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! What a pleasure having you with us at Try it on Tuesday as our Guest Designer, you are an inspiration my friend. big hugs :)

Love this color palette..so icy but cozy at the same time! I always love to see how you build your layers...and this one reminded me of my favorite Christmas poem by Christina Rosetti:" Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone; snow on snow had fallen, snow on snow on snow." You captured winter in these incredibly detailed and textured layers. It's beautiful as a poem.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Sara Emily. I love all of the texture and the colors are lovely. Thanks for playing along at ATSM. Melissa
