Hello friends! Wow! I am in a card making frenzy! Perhaps friends and family just may get their Christmas greetings before New Years! And it's all thanks to Linda Coughlin and her challenge The 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style at her blog The Funkie Junkie. I was certainly inspired by her to get my hands busy making some Christmas cards! Here is my interpretation of her first week's tag:
You might say I'm a little late to the game, but better late than never. I found out about this fun and inspiring challenge through my blog buddie, Autumn of Sew Paper Paint. If you visit her blog you will be amazed and inspired by this incredibly talented artist.
Here is Linda's original tag.
I was inspired by Linda's use of Wendy Vecchi's gold texture paste through a Tim Holtz Poinsettia stencil and her beautiful die cut poinsettia. I also was drawn in by that bold sentiment in Post Box Red and the pretty lace along the bottom. I also was inspired by the simplicity of her tag, and the fact Linda let her gorgeous background speak for itself, keeping embellishments at a minimum.
While I had to make my own gold texture paste, I followed along using a Tim Holtz Flourish stencil, and then adding some glittery gold embossing powder to the paste while it was still wet. Once dry, I heat embossed. and added just a smidgen of color blending Vintage Photo Distress ink just around the edges. My sentiment is also colored with Post Box Red Dylusions spray, but I went over it with Barn Door Distress ink to make it really bold against that sparkle.
I used Tim's Poinsettia die, too, to make my flower, and embossed with the Poinsettia Texture Fade. I kept my flower's colors muted so the background, too, would speak for itself. A little lace from my stash added along top and bottom.
I hope you like my little card! One down, eleven more to go! Be sure to visit Linda's blog for some incredible Christmas inspiration. While you are there, get your Christmas cards done and enter her 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style challenge for a chance to win a mind blowing generous gift voucher to her awesome store The Funkie Junkie Boutique (who is sponsoring this challenge).
